 The Maledict - Dread (N/A) With the album release cycle slowing to a crawl as the year draws to a close, there is only one solid album released this week, but it’s a diamond in the rough. The debut album from this Australian quartet is a modern day Death/Doom juggernaut, with atmospheric passages and melodic vocals giving way to bludgeoning metal riffs and growls. While there are moments that borrow heavily from the classic Peaceville sound, this is really a Death Metal album at heart and the Atmospheric Doom is used as a perfect balancing tool. Nice surprise from an unsigned band on a late December release. |
